EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS 教育路径

We have divided university “Programs of Study” into 8 pathways to guide students in their course selection.
我们按照大学的入学要求，已经把课程选择分成八大类，学生根据自己的情况进行选择。

1. Applied Arts (e.g. Interior Design, Fashion design, Multi-media, Mass communication studies)
   应用艺术（室内设计、时装设计、多媒体、大众传媒等）
2. Fine Arts (e.g. Photography, Dance, Drama, Art History)
   综合艺术（如摄影、舞蹈、戏剧、艺术史）
3. Arts – Humanities (e.g. Psychology, Geography, International Trade, Political Science, History)
   人文学科（心理学、地理学、国际贸易、政治科学、历史学）
4. Business/Commerce (e.g. Marketing, Accounting, Management, Finance, Economics)
   商业/贸易（市场学、会计、管理、金融、经济学）
5. Applied Science (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biological Engineering)
   应用科学（化学工程、计算机工程、生物工程）
6. Environmental Studies (e.g. Landscape Architecture, Resource Management, Industrial Design)
   环境研究（建筑学、资源管理、工业设计）
7. Sciences (e.g. Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Computer Statistics, Geophysics)
   科学（生物化学、分子生物学、计算机统计学、地球物理学）
8. Health Sciences (e.g. Dietetics, Medical Laboratory Technician, Nursing, Medicine)
   健康科学（营养学、医学实验室技术、护理、药学）

   Full Course Load 课程比重

  All students at TTMLIS are required to take a full course load of 8 courses - which translates into 9 blocks as we double-block English and Communications.
所有的学生按照课表每天上9节课8门课程，其中英语或交流英语课为每天两个课时

Students must graduate with a minimum of 80 credits. Linear (all school year) courses are worth 4 credits each. Semestered (1/2 school year) courses are 2 credits each.
学生毕业最少需要80个学分，一年分两个学期，持续一年（学年制）的课程每门4学分，持续一学期（学期制）的课程每门2学分

  Required and Recommended Courses 要求和推荐的课程

  Grade 11 Students at TTMLIS must take the following courses in order to graduate:
11年级必须完成以下课程才能毕业

• -En or Com 11              英语或交流英语 11年级
• -Social Studies 11         社会学11年级
• -PE 11                          体育11年级
• -Math 11                      数学 11年级
• -Mandarin or CSL 11      语文或以中文为第二语言
• -A Science 11 (CH, PH, BI)  科学（化学、物理、生物之一） 11年级
• -Chinese Social Studies 11     中方课程 11年级 

Electives 可选择的

  You can see that there is one opening for either one full-year (linear) course, or 2 half-year (semestered) courses.
你可以看到，还可以选择一个学年制课程或两个学期制课程

Students are currently completing a survey of interest so that we can narrow down our elective choices and meet the interests of the majority of the students.
目前学生们都已经拿到选课调查表，他们完成之后我们可以根据学生选择的数量和兴趣确定开设哪些课程

This survey should be submitted Sunday night to their home room counsellor.
选课调查表本周日晚上交给领事。

  Recommendation 建议

   At Maple Leaf we strongly encourage students to choose a second science course as their elective in Grade 11.
我们非常鼓励学生在11年级选择第二门科学课程

4 of the 8 pathways require 2 science courses in Grade 12
8个学习路径中有4个要求每个学生在12年级学习2门科学课

Keep options open if students are a little unsure of their pathway.
如果学生对今后上大学还没有完全确定目标，至少现在选课要留有余地

  Students should examine course calendars, online university or college sites,
 www.schoolfinder.com, http://univ.cc, www.collegeview.com, and www.educationplanner.bc.ca to determine: 学生应当认真阅读各大学院校的专业信息

3. Then is important that the student matches his/her Grade 11 choice(s) with what the Post Secondary Institutions is looking for.
   学生应当从11年级选课的时候就要考虑到今后上大学所学专业的要求。

  Students: before selecting courses for the next school year, make sure:
同学们，在你们选择下学年课程以前，应当：

• You have spoken with your parents.
  和家长交流
• You have spoken with me.
  和我交流
• You have decided on your Pathway.
  确定你选择那个路径
• You have researched at least 3 different PSIs and found out what you will need.
  至少要访问3所大学院校的网站，找到你的需求
• You consider your aptitudes.
  考虑你个人专长和喜好
• You consider the labour market information
  考虑今后的就业市场
• Once we have collected and tallied each of the student elective interest surveys, we will be able to determine which electives we are able to offer.
  我们收齐选课调查表后进行统计，然后才能决定我们可以开设哪些课程。
• We are hoping to complete the course selection process by the 3rd week in March.
  希望在3月份的第三个周末前我们能完成选课。
